Password Synchronization

Enterprise Global organizations today run their businesses on a wide variety of computing platforms, networks and applications. Employees must be able to readily access corporate information wherever it resides, and the corporation must ensure that this business critical information is secure at all times. Multiple systems typically mean multiple user IDs and passwords. Syncom solves password change and synchronization problems in distributed environments, securely and quickly.

One Password for Global Access

Syncom provides password synchronization spanning multiple systems, servers, networks and applications. Syncom picks up authorized password changes that a user makes in the normal course of corporate password change policy, or due to a system requirement. Syncom then manages and synchronizes all further password changes that may occur on the user's defined systems. A password change "event" on your IBM Enterprise system is automatically translated from one system to all other supported systems. Syncom synchronizes all appropriate administration "events" across multiple RACF databases in VTAM Networks running MVS, in different databases on the same machine or within the same database. This extensive platform and system coverage means that password management becomes a much easier task to administer on a far more centralized basis.

Unified Secure Sign-on

Syncom allows users to utilize the same password to sign on to all platforms and systems. This means that a user no longer must remember multiple passwords to gain access to the information they need - one password provides access to all business critical information regardless of where the information resides. This provides much-needed relief for help desks over-burdened with requests to reset users' forgotten passwords.

With Syncom, a password change is automatically replicated from one system to all other supported systems. When deployed on your IBM Enterprise system Syncom automatically translates a password change "event" from one system to all other supported systems. An example is a password change across RACF/MVS to CA-ACF2/MVS. Utilizing one password to gain access to all systems increases security, as the user is likely to memorize one password as opposed to keeping a written list of many passwords.

Ease of Deployment

The installation and deployment of Syncom does not intrude upon or modify any existing software, whether it is a server on the network, a client on the network, or an application that a user must access on a frequent or infrequent basis. Because Syncom components are completely server-based, no client code is required. This server-based approach translates into faster deployment for the IT department, and results in reducing help desk calls almost immediately. In addition, the quick deployment of Syncom frees up, rather than depletes, IS resources.
