New Token Support

The range of authentication devices supported by Defender has been extended. We will soon be offering two more hardware token device options and a new software token option:

• Aladdin eToken R2 USB token
• Aladdin eToken Pro USB token
• PassGo Desktop Token

Aladdin eToken R2 and eToken Pro

The eToken R2 and eToken Pro are both USB devices, the size of a small house key, offering two-factor authentication in a robust and powerful form.

These eTokens are both cost-effective and easy to use and can be carried on a key ring or in a pocket. When combined with Defender a user is able to store their Defender security token on either device. Just connect the eToken to your PC or laptop and with a click of your mouse your Defender software will recognise the security token on the eToken device and prompt you to authenticate. The eTokens are the ultimate user friendly and portable security solution as both use a standard USB interface and can be taken from one workstation to another. The eToken R2 and the eToken Pro also have a hardened tamper-evident and water resistant shell which provides added durability and increased security.

PassGo Desktop Token

PassGo provides a number of electronic security devices or tokens which take advantage of Defender's security architechture. The Desktop Token is the latest addition to the range. Installing the new Desktop Token software on a PDA, PC or laptop enables a more secure connection between that device and your corporate assets, authenticating the user in the same way as a PassGo hardware token.

When you install the Desktop Token software on your PC or laptop you have the option of storing the token in a local folder, on a USB eToken or on a removable device such as a USB memory stick. Installing the token on a removable device will allow you to authenticate to your corporate assets from any of your PCs.

For supported applications, the PassGo Desktop Token also allows you to choose to authenticate by only having to enter a PIN identity. The challenge/response dialog can be handled automatically by the Defender VPN Integrator. This simplifies the authentication process making it the ultimate in user-friendliness.

Mobility and security

When you combine Defender with the Desktop Token, the eToken R2 or the eToken Pro you then have the ideal solution for a wide variety of security applications, including:

• Extranet/Intranet access authentication.
• VPN authentication.
• Secure Remote Access Server (RAS) authentication.
• Secure network logon.
• Email communications.

Any of these applications can be accessed by a Defender authenticated user who has either a USB eToken or a Desktop Token, making these token devices excellent mobile security solutions for your business.
